Jenny & Mike’s Battery Park NYC Wedding

Inspiration, wedding photography

This weekend, I flew to NYC to shoot a wedding that has been a long time in the making. I was initially supposed to photograph Mike and Jenny’s wedding back in May, and it got postponed due to Covid. They decided to hold a smaller wedding with 50 people to comply with NYC regulations, so I hopped on a plane and came back to the Big Apple to be there for their special day!

The day started off with some fun in Jenny’s hotel room, with the girls popping champagne and Jenny finishing writing her vows in her vow book. And let’s not forget the insane view they had from downtown NYC!

Then I started shooting her details, from her high heels to the flowers to the stunning dress. The lace work on her gown was so intricate that I wanted to make sure to get some details of it with my macro lens.

Next it was time for Jenny and her girls to get ready for the wedding, which included hair, makeup and getting their dresses on!

Here’s a detail of her flowers, which included something borrowed and something blue from her family:

We walked outside to take some family photos, and the lighting was so great! I love this candid shot I got of Jenny crossing the street.

Then I headed down the street to Mike’s apartment by Battery Park so I could shoot some images of the guys getting ready. They were having a good time hanging out.

We went to the roof to take a few pictures, and the view was insane. You could see the Statue of Liberty, New Jersey and uptown. It was stunning.

Soon it was time to head over to the venue and photograph all the details of the wedding and reception before the guests got there.

And just like that, it was time for them to get married! They read their own vows that they had written, and Mike mentioned how he’d protect Jenny from dinosaurs. It was adorable.

I also managed to run up to the roof to get a wide shot of the wedding. You can see the Staten Island Ferry on the river in the background, as well as the Statue of Liberty.

Around sunset, I took Mike and Jenny into the park for a few shots before the reception. The lighting was great all day, and the park was empty, so we got some stunning photos.

Then it was time for the reception, where there were some great toasts given and things got wild on the dance floor!

All in all, it was a stunning wedding and I’m so glad I got to be a part of it. For more of my wedding photos, head over to my weddings page and my weddings Instagram.
