Pink Photoshoot Locations in NYC

Inspiration, photography tips

If you’re like me, you might be kinda obsessed with the color pink. One of my favorite pastimes is wandering around New York and finding perfect pink spots to set up photoshoots. So, I thought it would be awesome to compile all the information into one article. After two years of exploring, here are my personal recommendations for the best pink photoshoot locations in NYC.

Museum of Ice Cream

The Museum of Ice Cream is a fabulous playground in NYC for all things ice cream related. As an added bonus, the entire building is painted head to toe with pink pastels. We spent almost three hours exploring and taking tons of pictures, and it’s a super fun activity for an afternoon. We went on a weekday, which was way less busy than the weekends.

Cha Cha Matcha

This pink matcha heaven also doubles as a great spot to grab a drink or even some soft serve! They have multiple locations, but the biggest one with the pink doorway is the 1558 Broadway location. This just proves that we love pink so matcha!

M Tea

M Tea just opened up in Flushing, Queens, and it is a lovely space that does not disappoint. It will take you some time to trek to Flushing from the city, but I promise it will be worth it for the amazing photos! It’s a two story building that includes clusters of pink chair pods, a massive pink hot air balloon that ascends to the ceiling, and a pink phone booth upstairs. I had the pink smoothie (big surprise) and it was as delicious as it was pink!

Pietro Nolita

Pietro Nolita is a very pink restaurant that prides itself on being “Pink as F*ck.” I went there for my birthday this year and took some fun pink inspired photos, as well as tried some of their amazing pasta. There’s lots of options, because the inside is just as pink as the outside benches. Also, I HIGHLY recommend checking out the bathroom, as it’s completely pink as well!

Pixinity

The Pixinity Pop-Up was an immersive experience complete with pixelated icons, a New York themed room, a giant avocado, and a massive pink ball pit. The pop up ended in November, but creator Tianyu Qiu told me that he has some more pop up ideas up his sleeve, so keep an eye out for his next project!

Central Park

Central Park in the spring is the perfect place to get your pink on! When the Crabapple trees start blooming, pink petals create a stunning pastel spectacle in the park. Check out Conservatory Garden’s Center Garden from mid-April to mid-May, that’s when they’re typically in bloom.

Tiny’s and the Bar Upstairs

This adorable pink building is the perfect backdrop for a photoshoot in NYC. You do have to be careful though, because that street can get busy with traffic, but we went on a Sunday morning and it was completely empty. I’ve also eaten at Tiny’s and the food is phenomenal!

Your Apartment

Look, when all else fails, buy some confetti and have your own shoot in your room! We bought a pack of pink confetti from Amazon for less than $10 and had a mini photoshoot against a white wall in our apartment. Pro tip: use a wall that’s facing a window, so you get the best lighting. Second pro tip: use the slow-mo option on your iPhone and take an awesome video throwing the confetti!

I hope these locations got you excited to take some pink photos around the city! Top 5 Pink Desserts In NYC

Uncategorized

This is a very specific article, I know. But let me give you some background. I’ve been on a little side project all year long. I wanted to see if I could take my love of all things pink, and find it translated into desserts in the city.

It all started because I wanted some adorable pink food that matched my aesthetic to post on Instagram. But then it became a challenge for me, and I started seeking out shops, menus, and restaurants on social media to see if I could compile an all-pink list. And I did, right here, just for you! So if you’ve ever thought, hmm, I wonder what kinds of pink desserts NYC has to offer, this is your spot to find out!

Simply Delicious Yellow Cake with Sweet Pink Buttercream Icing from Amy’s Bread

Amy’s Bread is a classic bakery in NYC, and their pink cake is no exception. It’s sweet icing is the perfect topper for the moist cake, and is the perfect pink dessert to grab with a coffee or on a weekend outing with friends. I highly recommend this cake for looks + taste. I might need to run to Chelsea Market later to grab a slice!

Strawberry Shortcake & Red Raspberry Cakes at Ring Ding Bar

Pink on the outside AND inside! This dessert bar does a modern take on the classic 1950’s dessert Ding Dongs, which is basically a mini cake with a chocolate layer overtop and filling in the inside. The strawberry shortcake is absolutely delicious, not to mention adorable, and the shop is even cuter! I highly recommend heading downtown to check it out in person!

Pink Bubble Tea at Bar Pa Tea

While I admit this is borderline in the “dessert” category, I’m still counting it because it’s a sweet treat! The store itself gets extra points for looking adorable and pink, and is great for photos too. They have lots of other flavors, including matcha, coffee, and add-in flavors, so go check them out for a sweet drink.

Lavender Ice Cream with Lucky Charms and a Pink Cone from Soft Swerve

Oh my gosh, where do I start with this?! While it’s not all technically pink and there is a lot of purple in the dessert, I included it because this. was. the. best. ice. cream. I’ve. ever. eaten. For real, it was delicious. And it’s so pretty for ice cream! Beware, there might be a bit of a line, but they’re speedy and it’s absolutely worth it!

Strawberry Cronut at Mia’s Bakery

If you haven’t tried the cronut yet, you need to head on over to Mia’s bakery immediately. It’s the perfect balance of crunchy cronut texture and silky sweet icing on top. And it’s pink, of course. The strawberry flavors tasted incredible, but note that it’s very rich, so might be best to share with a friend if you don’t have the biggest sweet tooth.

Bonus: Vegan Raspberry Cake at Mia’s Bakery

The folks at Mia’s were so nice and helpful that they gave me multiple pink dishes to photograph! This one is for all my Vegan friends out there. It’s a Vegan raspberry cake with a raspberry drizzle. Talk about amazing. With the filling and layers of icing, I was in total pink heaven.

Give these a try the next time you’re out and about in the city, and if you have any recommendations of other pink food or desserts that I should photograph, hit me up at gdeimz@gmail.com or on Instagram @gdeimz. Thanks so much and hope you have a pastel pink day! 🙂

I JUST LAUNCHED MY PRINT STORE!

Uncategorized

I am ear to ear smiles today, because today is the day I have finally launched my online Etsy shop of some of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken. Here’s a GIF showing you just how excited I am:

Unsurprisingly, the shop is full of PINK and SPARKLES. I would have it no other way! I thought I’d highlight some of my favorite prints up on the shop right now (which by the way I should mention is just in time for your holiday shopping!)

This is my favorite print up right now! I shot it from the Rainbow Room in Rockefeller Center of the Empire State Building. And, you know, made it pink. Did you expect anything less from me?!

I’ll never forget this New Years Eve! I got $10 tickets to see the fireworks show in London against the backdrop of the London Eye and the river. It was an absolutely stunning way to start the new year. I actually have this print hanging up in my room right now!

This photo was taken during a studio shoot in London while I was studying at London College of Fashion. We glued candy to the model’s lips! It was such a fun day of shooting and the print turned out so cool and unique.

This actually comes as a set of two prints that go together. Because what could be better than donuts + pink + icing + lipstick + blush?! They make a really cute matching wall hanging set. There’s a ton of other fun shots from a bunch of different cities, including Paris, Sedona, New York, and the Bahamas. Have a look and see if there are any you like!

Pixinity NYC Pop Up Photoshoot

Inspiration

It’s not a regular pop-up shop where you snap a photo for The Gram and leave. This is an entire art installation with a heartfelt meaning. The artist, Tianyu Qiu, decided to make his own pop up and partner with Autism Speaks. His sister was diagnosed with autism, and they use computers and iconographic symbols to communicate over verbal communication. He wanted to create a world where anyone could come interact with the art in an accessible way. I loved that concept, so I stopped by this week to check out Pixinity!

It starts out with a wall of shades of pink–my favorite. They told us that pink is the symbol for hope, so there’s a thread of pink throughout the entire show.

Then we moved on to the hallway of neon that transported us out of 2019 and into the digital, pixelated world full of pixelated people, food, and cities!

The blue room is filled with foam pixels for you to play around with and emojis with different expressions in pixel form. It kind of feels like you’re walking around a live version of Mario Bros, which was awesome.

I won’t give all the surprises away, but let’s just say there are some blacklight rooms that are very trippy and an infinity mirror you could stare at all day long (we did). What I loved about this pop-up is that it wasn’t just about photos. You could tell the artist spent a lot of time thinking of ways to make it interactive and interesting for the audience, and created a safe space where everyone was free to play in their own way.

This room, unsurprisingly, was my favorite. It was all about sending a love letter and there were pink paper airplanes flying around the room and this pixelated heart with wings. Not to mention the massive pink ballpit. This always brings out my inner child, and I had fun swimming around in a pixelated pink ocean!

The whole experience is filled with vibrant colors that correspond to different themes in the rooms. Here are a few other favorite shots, including one I took of the creator of the project, Tianyu. We had fun playing for a few hours and letting our inner child run around!

The Pink Ballpit!

This was honestly my favorite part of the entire shoot. It was just so pink. Aka my favorite. If you haven’t gone yet, definitely check Pixinity out this fall before it’s gone. I was really hyped to support a pop-up that had a deeper meaning and was partnering for an awesome cause.
